SECOND NATIONAL TOUR CAST ANNOUNCED; TONY AWARD WINNER FAITH PRINCE TO PLAY MRS. WILKINSON

Tony Award-winner Faith Prince stars as Mrs. Wilkinson along with Giuseppe Bausilio, Michael Dameski, Kylend Hetherington, Lex Ishimoto and Daniel Russell in the role of Billy.
 
Also featured in the second national tour of Billy Elliot the Musical are Rich Hebert (Dad); Patti Perkins (Grandma); Jeff Kready (Tony); Joel Blum (George); Griffin Birney and Jacob Zelonky (Michael); and Rachel Mracna (Debbie).

Emily Skinner Returns to Broadway, Kate Hennig Heads to Toronto

Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner will return to Broadway on October 2 in Billy Elliot, as dance teacher Mrs. Wilkinson. Skinner, who currently plays the part in the Chicago production will replace Kate Hennig. Hennig's final Broadway performance will be October 1 and then she will return to her hometown of Toronto to launch the Canadian production of the show. Billy Elliot Toronto begins performances at the Canon Theatre on January 28, 2011.

Tour Announces Extended Run at Toronto's Canon Theatre

The first national touring production of Billy Elliot will be presented in Toronto as part of the 2010/2011 Mirvish Subscription Season. Performances will begin on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Canon Theatre (244 Victoria Street). Following that, the production will be presented in San Francisco as part of the 2010-2011 SHN Best of Broadway season. Performances will begin on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Orpheum Theatre (1192 Market Street). Additional details will be announced soon.

Open auditions were held in Raleigh, NC June 5th - 6th to find boys and girls to play the roles of ‘Billy’, ‘Michael’ and the ‘ballet girls’ in the North American companies of Billy Elliot the Musical.

Original Bway Billys, Kulish, Alvarez, & Kowalik, Reunite for BILLY ELLIOT Celebrity Cook-Off

May 4, David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish, Tony winners for their performance as Billy in the hit musical Billy Elliot, reunited to support TrueChild in their Celebrity Cook-Off event at the Institute of Culinary Education. TrueChild is a leading national organization that helps all children break through stereotypes so they can be true to themselves and reach their full potential. Alvarez, Kowalik and Kulish were joined by "Top Chef" season five finalists Carla Hall and Fabio Viviani. BroadwayWorld was on hand to capture the event.
The event was hosted by "Top Chef" season four star Ryan Scott. The TrueFlavors Celebrity Cook-Off was sponsored by ING. For the competition, the teams each had 35 minutes to prepare a three course meal with secret ingredients revealed only moments before the contest.

On Friday, April 16th, Billy Elliot the Musical will be featured on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”  Composer Elton John will be Oprah’s guest, and the stars of Billy Elliot in Chicago, Tommy Batchelor, Giuseppe Bausilio, Cesar Corrales and J.P. Viernes will also make an appearance.  “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will air live at 9am Central on ABC7 WLS in Chicago and will air at 4pm Eastern on WABC in New York.  Check local listings for additional airings.

A new series of webisodes featuring the Chicago production of Billy Elliot the Musical are now being released on the Sights and Sounds page, starting with MEET THE BILLYS: TOMMY.

The webisodes give viewers around the world inside access to the show and a chance to connect with this global smash-hit phenomenon as it begins its run in Chicago. Additional webisodes are scheduled to be released in March and April to introduce the cast and show rehearsals, audience reactions, opening night and more.

Chicago Billys Announced!

Performances begin March 2010 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre in Chicago!

Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Weinstein Live Entertainment announced today that Tommy Batchelor, Giuseppe Bausilio and Cesar Corrales will star as "Billy" in the national touring production of the 2009 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Billy Elliot the Musical. Featuring music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry, the U.S. national tour will launch with an extended run in Chicago in the spring of 2010 before embarking on a multi-city tour. Performances will begin March 2010 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre (24 West Randolph, Chicago).

Tommy Batchelor, 14, is currently playing "Billy" on Broadway in rotation with David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish. Tommy is a native of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and made his Broadway debut in the role of "Billy." He started his training at age four at Dance Factory in Minnesota and has starred in Miami City Ballet's production of The Nutcracker as well has having competed nationally in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix. Giuseppe Bausilio, 12, was born in the Swiss capital of Bern and began his ballet training at age 4. He has performed with the State Theatre of Bern in Coppelia, as well as in the operas Mazzepa and Falstaff, among other roles. Giuseppe has won numerous awards for competitions in the US and Europe. Cesar Corrales, 13, was born in Mexico before moving to Montreal with his family. At age 4 he performed with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in Madama Butterfly. Among his other credits, Cesar placed first at the Coupe Quebec gymnastics competition in 2008, the same year he joined Canada's National Ballet School. More than 1,500 boys auditioned for the role of "Billy."
